Widely regarded as the first real jazz saxophonist, Sidney Bechet was also an accomplished clarinettist. Two spells in prison coupled with a spell working as a tailor have done much to create the legend of Sidney Bechet as perhaps the first rock and roll star too! It is his playing abilities that are on display on this album and here he is revealed as a passionate performer, irrespective of the instrument he chooses to play.
